Babygirl had a dentist appointment at 1:00 . I had two kids here today and Hubs was supposed to be here. He called at 10 and said there was no way he would make it. And did I ever tell you that I don’t drive?
Lovely.
Babygirl’s boyfriend picked us up and we dropped off the kids with my sister-in-law. And then to the dentist. Kid had something to do so he didn’t stay. That was cool. As long as we made it to the doctor’s it was okay. Dr. BadNews said “root canal” and then “braces” and “right away”. As through a tunnel, I also heard “hundred” or “thousand”. We will see the orthodontist within the next couple of weeks and she will return to Dr. BadNews next month. And did I tell you that we don’t have dental insurance?
Lovely.
I had forgotten all about ordering contacts because of all the pain Babygirl was in with her teeth. So I called to order them. I need to pick them up on Friday. $150.00. And did I tell you that we don’t have optical coverage?
Lovely.

We got home and there was a message on the answering machine. Babygirl may have to take Biology in summer school. We have to pay $85.00 per course for that. No bus transportation is provided. I have to find a way to get her there every day. And did I tell you that she will still be in school the week that we usually go on vacation?
Lovely.
After dinner we participated in my favorite recreational activity–food shopping. For once I didn’t bitch–much. After the day’s events I actually came home relaxed by the simple routine of spending money at a rate I could control. I had left some clothes in the washer earlier, so when we got home I went downstairs to throw them into the dryer. Hmmm…That’s strange. The towels waiting to be washed are awfully wet. Those kids are soaking up some serious water upstairs. I’d better check on that later…WHAT IS THAT SMELL?? Our sewer line has backed up into our basement. Again. The snake isn’t moving things and neither is the Liquid Plumr. We will be calling RealLife Plumr.
Lovely.
Hubs is rolling with the punches while I freak out. How can he be so calm while our bank account is hemorrhaging money left and right in one day? I was so happy when I got up this morning. I intended on having a lovely day.
Boy, did I ever!

on June 17, 2008 at 12:48 PMI feel your pain. When it rains it freakin’ pours. I just had spinal fusion surgery – developed a hematoma in the hospital three days post-op and had to be taken back to the OR and hematoma removed – THENNNNNN…2 weeks later when I am at home recovering from spinal fusion, I get an infected wisdom tooth and molar – not good with new titanium hardware (aka foreign body for icky infections to stick to). I’m sending positive vibes your way — maybe some $$ will fall into your lap somehow.
Metalmom said:
on June 17, 2008 at 1:11 PMpriss-I will remain seated for the foreseeable future. I’d hate to be without a lap when the money starts falling!

Ouch.
It’s times like this, that I wish I’d won the universal super galactic mega lottery (tax free) so I could just give money to any friends who needed it.
I could just give you a form to fill out, you’d promise to read my blog until the day one of us died, and then name the amount you wanted!
Some call that bribery; I call it… well, something else.
I hope things get better.

Metalmom said:
on June 17, 2008 at 3:08 PMLynda-This is the second opinion. But it will turn out for the best in the long run. She won’t have to wear them forever like some kids and now they come invisible which is what we plan to opt for. It’s just that all of this is happening when money is getting tighter and tighter for everyone!
