Yeah, yeah, yeah….I know. You’ve seen this everywhere and we’ve all stolen it from Avitable. Why argue with genius? He took the top 100 movies of the last 25 years, as stated by Entertainment Weekly. Then he bold-faced the ones that he has seen and asterisked the ones he liked. I’m a copycat, so I did too.

But I digress….
Just from this list, I’ve seen seventy-nine. With an average running time of two hours each……that’s one hundred fifty-eight hours. That is roughly six and a half days–almost a week watching just these movies. That is not even counting the time spent watching them over and over again! Add to that the time spent watching so many, many, many, many other movies…..
I need a life!

on June 25, 2008 at 08:32 pmYeah… but how many of those movies did you START to watch, then kids wanted food or needed a diaper changed or hubby wanted some lovin’ or the dryer went off… ETC.?
Because that is probably why you had to re-watch them in so many of the cases (unless, of course, you really just loved the movie) sooooo…
I guess the point is that you’re not AS big of a movie-whorin’ slacker as you think
. (haha)
Now, doesn’t that make you feel better? (lol)
So, if you’ll excuse me… my movie’s comin’ on and I gots to go!

on June 26, 2008 at 08:49 amI think you may hold the record for seeing the most of these. And damn if there are so many that are missing. And so many that probably dont’ belong on that list.
And I feel compelled to point out that it’s the best of the last 25 years… hence nothing prior to 1983.

on June 26, 2008 at 09:05 amFinn-I’ve seen the kiddie flicks with all the kids I watch, all the action ones with Hubs, all the stupid comedies with my sons and the horror and foreign films in the middle of the night when I’ve got insomnia. I catch alot of ‘chickflicks’ with Babygirl now that she’s older.
By the end of the list, I was so annoyed that many didn’t make the list, that I forgot it was the LAST 25 YEARS!

on June 26, 2008 at 04:29 pmSJ-I agree. I think as we get older, we are going to see more ’shit’ getting Oscars. The younger “stars” seem to have little or no talent, and yet are given movie roles based on their “cute factor” on Nickelodeon or Disney. The same can be said for the movies themselves. There are some real clinkers in this list.
