This week I have a bit of time on my hands, so I decided to do the “Big Fall Sweep”.
The Big Fall Sweep is what I do while I get ready for the fall and winter. You know, the jobs that it has been too hot to tackle. The jobs that have to get done now before the weather gets too cold.
Jobs like the outsides of my windows, putting away the summer clothes, taking out the fall clothes, bringing the holiday decorations (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas) to the front of the storage area. I need to change some sheets and air out the bedrooms a bit. Now that it is starting to get cooler at night, I need to find a place for the plants I bought this year.
I have wandered around the house like Goldilocks.
This job is too hard. That job requires a partner or I’ll kill myself. This job can be set aside for a rainy day. I haven’t yet found the job that is just right.
I know it needs to be done. I know that one day soon, I’ll be startled to learn that Halloween is here. I may end up with kids here and lament the fact that I got nothing done. I have storage bins in my bedroom. They are now in the way. I have bins in the office. They are also in the way.
But somehow, I lack the motivation. Where does that come from? How can I light a fire under my ass to do the things I need to do? I look around the house and think,”That will take a long time. I’ll need energy. I’d better stop and eat lunch.”
Stop what? I haven’t started anything yet!
Maybe I should just walk the dog and then take a nap. Maybe I can dream of a clean house instead.

I know what you mean. There are WAY too many things I need to get done here too.
I just don’t seem to have the energy to do anything lately.
Except for surfing blogs, drinking tea, and farting.

Actually it’s not that I’m not motivated to put myself into gear it’s I need to organize my internal energy to do it all rationally. Does that sound better?
