A phenomenon is occuring at my house and every other house in the small town that I live in.
Ants. Flying ants. Although termites also perform this behavior, these are not termites!
I was waiting for my guys to come home so I could make dinner (Suzy Homemaker was my name) Son2 came to the door with his hands full. As I went to open the door for him, he yelled at me to stop. He motioned to something below my line of vision.
Ants. A fuckton of ants.

We live in a place with thousands of trees. It is known as living “under the canopy” because the trees form a canopy that extends from one side of the street to the other on a majority of the streets in the area.
Every late September/early October, the swarming begins. Oh the horror! (Isn’t it ironic that I needed a good scare to get me in the mood for Halloween?) I am sitting here typing and I would swear that I feel ants all over my back and in my hair. (I don’t–believe me I checked and so did Son2!!)
They arise from holes hidden on the lawn.The leaves of the bushes shiver with their movement.You can actually see the grass shimmer with millions of ants making the trek from their home to my house. There, they will swarm up my stairs to the doors and windows. They will climb my walls.
Son2 and I hosed down the walls. We poured boiling water on them. And still they come. The video and pictures that I took were taken after spraying them down! A smell similar to “Raid” is thick in the air. It is cloyingly sweetish. It is the ants.They will climb all over, mate and drop down. Gone. Vanished. Just like that. They will disappear only to return next fall.
Frankly, I’d rather deal with a 50 story, radiation-generated ant than to deal with these fuckers!!

According to the article, “there is not risk of permanent household infestation” I’ve never seen a single one in the house (unless it came in under the crack in the door) And they are gone within hours.
